The Crown's Corner

I have appointed Ellen Davis as "Queen for a Day". I expect that she will be given all the respect that the Royal Title deserves. Please keep track of all unruly subjects, so that I might exact the proper fines upon my return to the throne.

Reminders ...

Dues are Due.
Mark calenders for the Foundation Dinner on Nov. 2nd.
Give members of the Board your suggestions for "August Rotarian of the Month", as well as the "Quiet Rotarian".

Weight Challenge: Our esteemed leader has accepted a challenge from our newest member, Randy Young. Both will be competing to lose weight. Whoever loses the least amount of weight week-by-week will put up $10 per pound towards the Rotary Foundation for the difference. Anybody else motivated to lose a little bit of weight?
RI President Dinner: Rotary International President Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar will be speaking at the Zone Institute's dinner on Sep 24 at the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento. One table of 10 has already been filled. Let's try to put together another table!
Foundation Dinner: The annual Area 4 Foundation Dinner will be held at the Nevada City Elks Lodge on Nov 2. Al Frumpkin, a very popular speaker on the Rotary Circuit, will be the keynote speaker.
Sierra Services for the Blind: The annual "party" will be held on Nov 18 at the Grass Valley Vets Building. Our club will be taking a prominent role in organizing the refreshments, marketing, etc. If you'd like to help plan this event, please talk to one of the committee members.
